The National Registration Bureau (NRB) says it is launching the Nzika Wallet, on Wednesday, 16th September 2026 at Bingu International Convention Centre.
The Nzika Wallet, which will initially host the Digital ID, Digital Birth Certificate, and the Digital Marriage Certificate, is a new innovation championed by the Government of Malawi through NRB and its partners such as UNDP.
Speaking a day before the launch, NRB Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Machika confirmed that the launch ceremony is the climax of the innovative work which has been going on at NRB for some time.
“The launch ceremony will be graced by four ministers led by the Minister of Homeland Security, Hon. Peter Mukhito as the Guest of Honour.
“The other ministers who have confirmed attendance are Minister of Information and Communications Technology Hon. Dr. Shadric Namalomba, MP, Minister of Agriculture Hon. Roza Fatchi Mbilizi, MP, and Minister of Health and Sanitation Hon. Madalitso Baloyi,” said Mr. Machika.
The launch of Nzika Wallet in Malawi follows the State President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika’s directive during the presentation of the State-of-the-Nation Address in Parliament on 13th February 2026 in which Government Departments were asked to implement a digitalization agenda.
“The Nzika Wallet is set to modernize Malawi’s Identity Management System, enhance convenience, and reduce barriers to accessing digital services in Malawi’” emphasized Mr. Machika.
The Nzika Wallet App can be accessed through Google Play Store for Android Phones and App Store for iPhones.
